Description
A black and white version of this view of the famous Jacobite steam train, The Jacobite is a big tourist attraction in Mallaig harbour town, this is the original Hogwarts express used in the Harry Potter films. The train stops at this station en route to Mallaig at the village of Glenfinnan. Beyond Glenfinnan are the beautiful villages of Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar.. You may alight at Arisaig by request to the guard. From here, on a clear summer's day, you can see the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck, Canna and the southern tip of Skye. The train continues on from here passing Morar and the silvery beaches used in the films, Highlander and Local Hero. The train travels along the highland route of Ben Nevis and Loch Nevis, spectacular views are seen on this route. Mallaig is the end of the line and a fine place to stop before the trip back, I was fortunate to catch the train in the station when I arrived at Mallaig on my tour of the Highlands, it was a wonderful sight to see, with rusty bumping posts included that still look rusty even in black and white. Looks good with the 2 station workers observing the details on the engine, it is continually being maintained throughout the season wether in active service or on the sleepers for its rest period in the winter a wonderful frequently used train a wonder of Scotland, pictured with the train driver and guardsman
