Description
The Jacobite is a big tourist attraction in Mallaig harbour town, this is the original Hogwarts express used in the Harry Potter films. The train stops en route to Mallaig at the village of Glenfinnan. Beyond Glenfinnan are the beautiful villages of Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar.. the route takes you through the Glens of Nevis with spectacular views of the Nevis mountain range including Ben Nevis and Loch Nevis the deepest sea Loch in Scotland and travels across the famous viaduct during part of its journey across the highlands, I took some pictures of this at Glenfinnin near the Scots monument, Loch Garry and Loch Linnhe. You may alight at Arisaig by request to the guard. From here, on a clear summer's day, you can see the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck, Canna and the southern tip of Skye. The train continues on from here passing Morar and the silvery beaches used in the films, Highlander and Local Hero. Mallaig is the end of the line and a fine place to stop before the trip back, I was fortunate to catch the train in the station when I arrived in Mallaig on my tour of the Highlands, it was a wonderful sight to see, with rusty bumping posts and all
