Description
A black and white version of this picture with slight blue tints gives out the feeling of the dramatic events that took place here in North Devon. The Gate to nowhere has no steps or pathway and is never opened as its path and steps were washed away in the tragic floods of August 15th 1952 of the River Lyn and surrounding towns and villages were sucked into the sea, a terrible tragedy and the gate was still standing and is left untouched as a memorial to those who died in the flood, it will be 60 yrs this year and there will be a memorial service at Lynton parish Church August 15 2015 in Lynton Village in Exmoor, North Devon

I love the haunting effect of this image, Joan-Violet. It looks like some setting out of Bram Stoker's Dracula. L/F

Thankyou so much Nina it is rather haunting and its is an area of terrible tragedy, it does have the look, I was amazed when I downloaded this picture that it looked that way 😱
