Description
A painting I did in Indian ink and watercolour, a poster design for Hamilton Square station, the Underground station that takes you from Birkenhead to Liverpool and different areas and resorts on the Wirral. I drew this whilst actually in the station itself during 1966 as an art student, it was difficult drawing the outline of the crowds noting the various colours and likenesses and background, then painting it later in the studio. The lettering was restored as it was primitively done at the time so I redid it in the original words used, I will put the original on here, later, some might prefer it. The colours are the same and so is the overall picture, these are real people at the time, a piece of history and it’s unbelievable just how much people used this station every day it’s like this during those times. The advertising posters within the station are for Lewis's and Blacklers as far as I can remember.
