Description
Hadrian's wall in Northumberland on the borders of Cumbria, a ruin of a Roman Fortress, I took a trip up here whilst staying at Carlisle and the visit was both interesting and exhilarating, a wonderful piece of our history of the Roman invasion. Hadrian built the wall to keep out the Scot barbarians from their territories throughout England but where never able to conquer the wild Scots. Handrian eventually abandoned the wall during Romes troubled times in history where eventually Rome fell, leaving Britain free from Roman occupation...only to be invaded by the Norse and Anglo saxons. True Britons, then became non existence during those invasions, it is said that they became the Welsh and Irish forfathers who seeked a land that invaders couldn't access. The historical features of this wall are incredible and worth the visit, built on a continuos hillside running through from Cumbria to Newcastle through Northumberland, a wonderful piece of ancient history, now in a truly delapitated state but still intact and an historical wonderment to view.
