I did this portrait of my favourite band, The Moody Blues, in 1994 after being very ill...I really indulged myself into this portrait and gained an exceptional piece that's almost life like, I surprised myself, I used fine grain watercolour paper as the surface and I outlined the black parts first in Indian ink then coloured it after the ink had dried, with washes on the shirts and detail on the faces, being waterproof Indian ink is ideal for this technique of over painting with transparent watercolours. The line up in this picture includes Patrick Moraz who replaced Mike Pinder on keys during that time from the band Yes, at the front is their drummer Greame Edge and Next to him bassist John Lodge who takes lead vocals on some tracks next to him is Ray Thomas the flautist who played such heavenly notes on Nights in White Satin he's not with the band now nor is Patrick. I am an artist and photographer I studied art in both Liverpool and Southport, I have works in acrylics, pastel, pencil, pen, ceramics, watercolours and photography, my work varies from portraits to landscapes abstract and still life, in both art and photography. I also use mixed media mixing some of my hand painted and sketched art with digital media and I have floral works in photography and digital designs. I have had my works at many exhibitions and know some other artists. I live in Southport and most of my work is accomplished there. I also write poetry and illustrate them.
