Description
Paper Sun, a song by Steve Winwood of the 1960's rock group Traffic and former frontman of The Spencer Davis group another 1960's Rock band. Released in May 1967, this trippy track was a good fit for the Summer of Love. Featuring Dave Mason's sitar, Chris Wood's flute and a rather inscrutable lyric, it became a psychedelia classic.
Paper sun was the inspiration for this piece taking my Steve Winwood portrait and giving it the tones of sunshine resembling the colours of the sun on paper in the song shining on his face like intense sunlight, with a black stressed shadow effect inner frame and a ditsy sun outer frame. I love the effect and it seems to bring the portrait to life. In this version I added the text of Paper Sun in yellow with added sun motif a poster style of the singer songwriter enhancing this song to the full.
The original pencil sketch of this portrait was actually sketched in the 1960's whilst I was still a student. Steve Winwood is still performing as a musician and singer songwriter, and the man looks really good after all this time.
