The Lone statue Silhouetted by the distant sunset over the River Mersey at Pier Head at Liverpool dockside, a statue of a famous captain, alongside a silhouette lamppost, who saved Liverpool from a U boat invasion, a captain of the HMS Starling U66 called Captain Frederick John Walker, a brave man who without let-up kept watch over our North Western shores from German invasion, pictured on the lookout here with binoculars in hand, who died in 1944, a brave man suffering from complete exhaustion during the war in 1944 A statue was erected in his honour during the regeneration of Liverpool's Waterfront in the 1990's Look to the left of picture where 2 lovers invade the silence of this scene looking out to sea and breaking the solitude as the Irish ferry sails along the River Mersey
