Description
Taken from the end of the pier on a very sunny summers day a long view of the horizon towards The Isle of Man, sometimes it can be seen due to reflections such as these, I think I can see a vague outline in the mist beyond. Southport is not on the Mersey even though it's said to be in Merseyside but on the estuaries of Liverpool Bay and the River Ribble out into the Irish Sea and shares the same waterways as Blackpool, here you can see people walking towards the waters edge the tide being out most of the time is a phenonimum exclusive of Southport...but when it does come in, it comes with a vengeance especially in the Spring the tide can be quite high and a lovely sight to see...looks lovely here on a summer's day with the sun reflecting on the water and its rippling estuaries. This is the beach where the sensational legendary racehorse Red Rum was trained and cured of his lameness.
