Description
Churchtown village is a little village in Southport on the borders of Lancashire and Merseyside within the province of Churchtown. The village, as pictured, is the original village that was first and foremost the community that Southport came from as it was called North Meols in those days of old, some of these cottages have been here for 400 years and some are still thatched, Claudes corner cafe is one thats thatched to the left behind me out of view and the variety of little shops with more cafes and The Bold Arms public house on the right in view are very popular venues in Churchtown with great food and are always busy..it's a unique village and has quite a few grade 2 listed buildings, a Tudor church, St Cuthbert's, a Manor House with vast grounds, Meols Hall, another great public House and eatery, The Hesketh Arms, and a beautiful Victorian Garden Park, Botanic Gardens with a flowing stream going through it, called The Otter pool, there are no otters nowadays. There's a little 9 holed golf course called The Old Links with club house, a popular golf course and the oldest course in Southport as the name suggests. This is the main road through the village, called Botanic Road which merges into Mill Lane, its usually full of traffic, photo was taken early morning before it started to get too busy and it sure gets busy
