Seven Lemons a poem by Joan-Violet Stretch
Life is a Lemon and mine is seven Lemons.
One for each day of the week
Sour and and bitter, not so sweet,
Refreshingly cool and mellow,
Sharp with juicy shades of yellow,
Plump and curvy, refreshing flavours
Lacking in sweetness but full of meekness.
Vignerette tarter, dressings smarter,
Blending wonder, a desert with sugar.
Icey cocktails with added fizz.
Slicing garnish, removes that tarnish,
Brightens silver, copper and Gold
Youthful skin that never looks old.
Shines your hair with shades of blonde,
Fragrance the air gentle but strong.
Bugs fly away in citrus candle
The Lemon maybe cool,
But its hot to handle.
Never underestimate how sharp it can be
Leaving it bitter with sad living tears.
Beautiful shiny baubles of yellow,
The Lemon can be both sharp and mellow.
Never leave it to sour and rot
Having it near it can accomplish a lot.
Can even be used when washing up
whiter than white in your laundry pot
Seven Lemons, seven heavens
This fruit is far from ordinary
Forever Yellow, bright and extraordinary
