Description
A portrait of the famous Liverpudlian pop star of the late 1950's and early 1960's, Billy Fury, who had numerous hits during that time, including Halfway to Paradise, Once Upon a Dream and Its only Make Believe he had to give it all up due to ill health, but made an amazing comeback in the early 1980's only to die of an ongoing heart condition only aged 42 in 1983. I have sketched this in his memory in charcoal and pencil only this week remembering him and his wonderful voice during my younger days...his birthday coming up in April 17th he would have been 74yrs...there is a statue of Billy at Liverpool's waterfront to commemorate this wonderful much missed talent and flowers are laid every year by his fans on his birthday
