Description
The pastel sketch of my portrait of Richard Burton as Mark Antony, the famous Roman centurion from the film Cleopatra. I've used a special effect in green to give the appearance of a copper bust of Rome, something the Romans used of great value to them when they represented people of authority with a Statue or bust in copper. Copper as we know it turns green if not regularly polished, naturally the slaves of those days did polish these busts until they shone copper in the sunlight, but over time with no slaves to preserve them, they have become green and rather eerie looking. I thought I'd represent Richard Burton's famous portrayal of Mark Antony with this look and it works, I love it. Makes a great print especially on the metal surface, this brings out the feeling of it being portrayed as green copper, looks good on the tee shirts and phone cases
