Description
A pastel Impressionism style work of a Scottish island beach mooring at the Isle of Barra, this work was created with rough pastel techniques on high quality pastel paper, to capture the freeness and ruggedness of the island with its sandy beaches and its moody skies, and tiny Croft houses and cottages, sold here as high quality prints to capture the clean crisp effect of this technique:
Barra is part of the outer Hebrides of islands and the furtherest out to the South west with another island called Vatersay island and has a causeway link with this island so its easy to walk from one island to the other. Barra also has vast beaches and an airport on one of the beaches that is only functional when the tide is out...it takes 4 hrs by ferry to to the nearest city, Oban, so flying is a shorter option. There is one castle in Barra in Castle Bay called Kisimul Castle sitting on its own little island so named Castle in the sea by locals dating back from the 11th century and it has a restuarant named after that which is extremely popular. The castle is of the clan McNiel, Barra was named after Saint Finbarr of Cork. Barra is said to be the most beautiful inhabited island in Scotland and a lovely serene and tranquil place to stay during summertime vacations in the UK.
