Description
The Church of Scotland in Fort William's famous parade with a back drop of the Glen Nevis mountain range which includes Ben Nevis a beautiful and spiritual place for a church to be at the foot of the mountains. Just to the right of picture flies a bird of prey, there are quite a few of these type of birds around these parts. A lovely place to worship and a really lovely congregation of people of whom I met whilst visiting this church when I arrived when there was a special function on at the church, I was staying in Fort William at the time. The statue outside is a statue of Donald Macintosh the founder of the original congregation of Macintosh's Memorial. There is an interesting story about the restoration of this church and the dedication of the congregations to restore it. Just down the road is the end of the West Highland way with a landmark of a place to rest which has become Fort William's signature for fell walkers and the climbing of the summit of Ben Nevis, a challenge indeed as it is the highest mountain in Britain. I went up to the slopes of Ben Nevis on a ski lift and really enjoyed the wonderful views up there of Loch Linnhe, Loch Garry and Lochinver with the surrounding glens rivers and forests, I also enjoyed watching the skiers another time when it was snowing, in this picture was my summer visit to the town I stayed in a lovely hotel just 2 miles along Loch Linnhe.
I replaced this with a Greyscale version today, 30th July 2016, that I prefer to the full colour version that was originally in this slot, as this is a much better produced version with more resolutions and scaling, I do hope you love it as much as I do, the detail of the buildings and mosaic tiles are stunning
