Description
The village of Carrbridge situated below the Monadhliath mountains in the Cairngorms national park with its famous 18th century arched shape packhorse bridge over the river Dulnain. The bridge was built to carry coffins across the water when the river was high. During the summer some locals leap off the bridge into its icy waters. Being Rapids of continuous flow it is a very cold river indeed. I visited here last weekend during a visit to the Highlands and admired the lovely October autumn colours around this river and its famous bridge, the image itself even though a photograph has the brushstrokes and dabs of an impressionist painting. I love capturing my photography with these natural effects.

A great shot Joan-Violet....this bridge looks hardly strong enough to walk over!!!! .....like and favourite and voted for in the Bridges contest in Best of British.
Joan-Violet Stretch replied:
Thankyou so much Lesley, its not a bridge to walk over now, but an ancient monument, I took this picture from the much safer road bridge

What an amazing bridge! Seeing it in autumn made for an especially stunning image, Joan-Violet. f/l
