Description
A second view of Hadrian's Wall taken at a lower rise angle bringing in the detail and perspective of the wall. This part of the wall is near the ancient Roman fortress that is now a tourist attraction in Northumberland not far from Carlisle Cumbria and the Penine Way, a walkway that leads from the Penines through to Northumberland and Hadrian's Wall. Originally built to divide England from Scotland both sides here are in England now, they, the Scots, at that time were unconquerable by the Romans so they built a wall to keep them out of England with Roman guards and fortresses protecting them from attacking, the Romans called them Barbarians, the wall is a wonder of our ancient history over 2,000 yrs old and still standing, a lovely sight to see. The sun was shining that day and casting shadows across the landscape picking out the detail in the stone along the hills and trees of the landscape.
